Bellydance & me

I am a bellydancer, artist and teacher who started bellydancing at the age of 12 and has spent the last three years in Cairo, Egypt learning from Egyptian dancers and teachers including Safy Akef, Naima Akef’s granddaughter and the legendary Dandash. I have completed bellydance teaching qualifications with Keti Sherif and Holistic bellydance with Sara Sarinha. I am also learning Egyptian colloquial Arabic.

For me, bellydancing has been a journey of self-love, understanding myself, embracing my femininity and sensuality and embodying myself. It’s also been so much fun!

This year, I performed to 500 people in Dahab, Egypt and most recently at Cabaret Lab in Brighton, UK.

Alongside dance, I am a qualified English teacher and has taught in Spain, Italy and Egypt. Prior to this, I spent 10 years working as an artist, event and learning manager, and evaluation consultant across the cultural sector in both arts companies and museums including Jane Austen’s House and Charleston.

I recently completed a qualification in flexibility.

My work focusses on creating safe and supportive spaces to explore and develop creativity and artistic skills.
